Lake Needwood

The Master Plan Alignment crossing of Rock Creek above Lake Needwood would cross a broad floodplain, filling in very high quality wetlands with 50 feet of fill dirt (the highest fills on the entire MPA route). As part of an effort to reduce the direct footprint impact of the highway upon wetlands and the floodplain, the SHA and its consultant designed a "Rock Creek Option" that would cross the flood plain at a narrower location (200 feet vs. 700 feet wide).
