Sierra Club Montgomery County Group Announces

State Level Endorsements

ROCKVILLE – The 6,000 member Sierra Club Montgomery County Group announced its list of endorsements for Maryland State Delegate and Senate candidates in the County today. The list of endorsees contains many incumbents, but it also includes a Green Party candidate for the first time. In deciding on its endorsements, the group looked closely at previous voting or activist records, candidate viability, and the candidates’ positions on important environmental and quality of life issues. In some districts, the group did not endorse any candidates.

In Districts 14 and 20, the Sierra Club took the unusual step of endorsing four candidates for delegate.  “We are fortunate this year to have a very strong group of candidates who care deeply about preserving our quality of life, our open spaces, clean air and water”, said County Group Chair, Betsy Johnson.
