Mount Rogers Backpack, VA

A strong musky scent came from this cave as we ascended on the Mount Rogers Trail. Bear?

Our first view of the Highlands.

Apparently Wilburn Ridge in the center of the picture, a destination for another hike.

A nice view behind Thomas Knob Shelter. Notice the storm clouds.

We were visited by 5 wild ponies after dinner.

As we reached the junction with the Mount Rogers Summit Trail, the view really opened up.
