Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, PA

Photos by Ken Clark and Michael Juskelis, 2008/03/22.

Our first Snow Goose of the day, with a Canada Goose, as we start off in an early spring snow squall.

Snow Geese grazing at Willow Point.

Ducks, Tundra Swans, and a Great Blue Heron seen far across the lake.

The remains of an old CCC camp that dates back to the 1930s. It was intact when it became part of
the WMA but they had to tear it down because of kids partying there.

At the Elder's Run springhouse, Mike and Janet get some posing practice a week before their wedding.

A view of Middle Creek.

Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris), just starting to bloom.

The view looking north from the Millstone Trail overlook, with South Mountain on the right.

The millstone of the Millstone Trail, apparently abandoned where it was quarried, perhaps because it cracked.

A huge tree at the northeast end of the Millstone Trail.

There is a droning din of honking as this flock of Snow Geese takes off to circle around. Most of the flock is too dense to make out individuals.

Seen from across the lake, some of the flock of Snow Geese heads towards Willow Point, while others remain on the island and lake.
