Oregon Ridge, MD

Photos by Ken Clark, 2008/03/02.

This foundation is all that remains of an old home which was recently torn down. However, black vultures had been nesting in the building for years, so the park built them the replacement home in the background. (See a picture of a vulture in the old building in our March 2005 pictures.)

We saw the boiling down of maple syrup inside this shed, then compared the tasts of box elder and sugar maple syrups.

Taking a break by the pond.

Our group.

Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis), native to Europe, blooms extremely early. It was apparently
planted long ago as ground cover; found near the Iron Furnace Exhibit.
