Summit Lake at the start of our trek.

Chuck, Pam and Lucas hiking along the Pocahontas Tr.

The missing words are "... not used. I invite you to ..."

We saw nice fall colors, despite being a week ahead of the prime.

We passed through several gigantic boulder fields on the Fork Mountain Trail. They looked like fortresses.

A missed trail junction took us to this nice vista.

Trail Angels Susan Chappell and Larry Kearns from Hillsboro, WV hauled 24 liters of water (about 48 pounds)
up a very steep Big Run Trail to our second night's dry campsite after work on Tuesday night. God bless them!

A clear-cut logging operation presented us with this panoramic view, including another clear-cut on the opposite mountain.

The Cherry River at the end of the hike was nearly dry.
