Day one - Hiking a small part of the Mid-State Trail

We passed several small slate quarry sites like this one during the initial steep ascent to the ridge.

One of several fascinating wind sculptures that we saw this weekend.

We passed this hunter's cottage near the halfway point. The continuation of the trail is the grassy road behind it.

Views from our turnaround point, an old quarry.

Little Pine Lake.

Day Two - Hiking the Golden Eagle Trail

The beautiful streams were totally dry but the clear skies and vistas made all of the work worth it.
Here's the Bonnell Run Vista. The Black Forest Trail is on that distant ridge.

The Beulah Land Vista.

A somewhat lesser but still pretty vista looking across the Wolf Run drainage.

We saw more odd wind sculptures during our climb to the Raven's Horn.

Finally! Betty and Don are on the Raven's Horn as Ann stands along side it.

EXCELSIOR!

A panoramic view from the left (Wolf Run Wild Area) to the right (Pine Creek Valley).

A view through the trees along side the Raven's Horn looking north up Pine Creek Valley.

Looking south down Pine Creek Valley from "the bottom" of the hike.

The Manor Inn. A great place to celebrate the end of a hike!

A great meal makes for the perfect ending for a perfect outing.
