Seneca Creek Backpack, Spruce Knob, High Meadows, MNF, WV
Photos by Michael Juskelis, 2005/09/23-25.
We were able to hike around Spruce Knob Lake between thunderstorms on Friday evening.
The fog was thick along the Huckleberry Trail on Saturday.
The views improved some by the time we reached the High Meadows.
The water in Seneca Creek was low but the falls were still beautiful.
A group shot before Lark had to leave: Betty, Jason, Ed, Karin, Lark and Andy.
The rest of us finally got to walk the 0.5 mile Whispering Spruce Trail before calling it a trip.
Some variety of Bottle Gentian found around the lake. Note the deep purple flowers and heavily purple tinged leaves.
Calico Aster (Aster lateriflorus).
Flat-topped Aster (Aster umbellatus).
Some variety of Smooth Aster.
Virgin's Bower (Clematis virginiana) seed cluster.
Nodding Ladies' Tresses (Spiranthes cernua), found around the lake.
