Allegheny Front Trail (AFT) Backpack, PA

Day 1
Our starting point at Black Moshannon Lake.
Painted Trillium (Trillium undulatum) and Gaywings (Polygala paucifolia) were all along the trails.
Views along Black Moshannon Creek. Truly black and beautiful.
Hiking along Benner Run with its pools and rapids.
Starflower (Trientalis borealis) is less than 3 inches tall, as were many of the other flowers seen on the trip.
Day 2
A huge beaver dam holds back acres of water. There is great camping along the bank.
Dwarf Ginseng (Panax trifolium), another diminutive flower.
Views east along the Allegheny Front.
Betty gets ready to scramble through "Rock City".
Day 3
Views along Moss-Hanne Trail.
Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris).
Bugle or Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans). In the mint family. Propagates by underground runners.
American Larch or Tamarack, a deciduous conifer.
