Photos by Ken Clark and Sue Muller, 2005/04/16.
Teresa, Stella, and Wil, at lunch near the west end of Billy Goat B section.
Arden, Renate, Carolyn and Anne pause, while Sue and Bill identify the golden alexanders.
The trail was often lined with flowers – golden ragwort and phlox in this case.
Virginia Bluebells and Golden Ragwort were blooming in abundance.
Turtles were sunning, and Zebra Swallowtails were flitting all around.
Yellow and White Trout Lilly.
Wild Ginger and Star Chickweed.
You could easily miss this single clump of Toad Trillium. The Golden Alexanders flowers were not quite open.
Spring Beauty carpets the forest in large portions of the Billy Goat B area.
A fence lizard on the Billy Goat A section.
Moss Phlox on a rock outcrop.
Early Saxifrage.
The view across Widewater, showing a redbud by the rocks where we had lunch last Dec. 4.
A closer look at a redbud tree.
