Hemlock Gorge, Gunpowder River
Photos by Michael Juskelis and Ken Clark, 2004/06/12.
The first view of Hemlock Gorge.
Small rapids through the Gorge.
Not many mushrooms compared to when we were here last July. This is probably Apricot Milk Cap, Lactarius volemus.
Lunch in Hemlock Gorge.
Some eco-vandals chopped down this living white oak and other smaller trees ruining our lunch spot. According to the Baltimore City Watershed staff, apparently the vandals chop down trees to try to build dams to enlarge the swimming holes.
After lunch.
The oldest Hemlock in the woods. You might have to go to Ramsey's Draft, VA to find one this big!.
