Lunch on Signal Knob. Mike Miller (off camera), Barb, Larry and Dave got front row seats overlooking Strasburg and the distant Great North Mountain.

We were joined by Tom Cagle and his Crabtown Ski Club crew for most of the hike so our ranks swelled to 20.

Andy thinks this is a Patent-Leather Beetle, a type of bess beetle, which eat decaying wood, and feed it to their young.

Less than a mile to go without seeing a single fungus, until this Hen of the Woods (AKA Sheep's Head Fungus).
