Meeting
America's Great Outdoors Listening Session

When:

Jun 25, 2010
1pm - 5pm

Details:

National Geographic's Treasured Landscape Map has named the Mattawoman Creek the #1 'Treasured Landscape' in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Unfortunately, the Mattawoman has also been listed by American Rivers as the fourth most endangered river in the entire United States.  The Mattawoman is both very valuable and very threatened.

Now you have a chance to tell the President how important the Mattawoman is.  On June 25th, as a part of an initiative by the Obama administration, there will be an America's Great Outdoors Legacy Listening Session from 1-5 at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis (801 Chase Street, Annapolis MD 21041).  The listening session is being held to let citizens tell the Administration about local conservation projects and efforts going on across the country.  This platform gives us a unique opportunity to discuss all of our efforts to protect the Mattawoman and to inform the Administration about our focus and intent on promoting smart growth in our local communities

Anyone with an interest in conserving outdoor spaces is invited to join the discussion.  Representatives from the Department of the Interior, the Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality will be in attendance.

If you're interested in having your voice heard, you can sign up online to attend the session before 10 PM on June 21st at the America's Great Outdoors registration page.

If you're unable to attend, please submit comments to the America's Great Outdoors comment page.  Registering with the site takes a minute and enables you to voice your concerns even if you can't make the meeting.
