About Us

The Young Sierrans hosts socials and outings for young people (generally between the ages of 25 & 45) looking to get outdoors and have a positive impact on our environment.

History

On September 18, 2004, the first hike of the Young Sierrans of the Greater Baltimore Group, Maryland Chapter, took place. Angela and Kathy, the group's original co-chairs, organized this adventure at Gunpowder Falls State Park. Since then, an official Young Sierrans event has taken place monthly. Our hikes have drawn as many as 25 participants and our e-mail list now sends out event notices to over 200 people in the area.

Socials

The Young Sierrans hosts a social on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm at various locations in Baltimore city. Locations will be posted on our Future Events page and announced on our email list.

Monthly Outings

The monthly outing typically occurs on the Saturday two days after the social, but check the Future Events page, because that sometimes changes. Our outings are often day hikes, but we also go kayaking, biking, backpacking, and weekend car camping!

Join Us

Sierra Club membership is not required in order to participate in our events. Check out our past events page to see what we've done. Then see our future events page to find an outing that interests you. See the leaders page to find out who will be leading the outing. Got questions? Contact us via the contact page. Now get outdoors!
