Sierra Radio Project

The Maryland Chapter is launching an intensive effort in the state to use radio to help educate the public about environmental issues.(See page 20-21) We need to raise $10,000 to purchase tape recorders, microphones, a digital audio editing system and some staff support time to implement this program. If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Laurel Imlay at 301-277-7111 or 410-813-2225. Or email Chris Bedford at cbedford@erols.com. We will send you a detailed proposal.

Fundraising Committee Chair

The Maryland Chapter is seeking volunteers to help with our fundraising efforts. The work includes planning and coordinating a strategic fundraising campaign, guiding the Chapter's tele-marketing efforts, and advising the Chapter Excom on fundraising. Membership Chair

The Maryland Chapter seeks a volunteer to design and help implement a campaign to double Sierra membership in the state from 12,500 to 25,000. About half of this growth can be achieved through retention of current members who forget to renew. The rest will have to come from an integrated campaign of action and outreach including media. If you are interested in helping the Maryland Chapter meet this challenge, please contact Laurel Imlay at 301-277-7111 or 410-813-2225. Or email Chris Bedford at cbedford@erols.com

Office Needs!

The Maryland Chapter office needs (1) a Mac compatible laser printer, (2) a large 7200,8100,8500 Mac or Mac clone computer with monitor, keyboard and modem, (3) four-or-five ergonomic office desk chairs. The Maryland Chapter uses the citizen lawsuit provisions written into environmental law to protect Maryland's environment. We are seeking a group of pro-bono legal help to pursue specific issues in Maryland. We have some funds dedicated to helping pay the outside costs of such litigation. If you are interested, please contact Laurel Imlay

In conjunction with an established Monocacy Water Monitoring Project out of Hood College in Frederick, the Maryland Chapter and the Catoctin Group are seeking volunteers to become water monitors for a specific stream or waterway in the watershed. Time commitment after training is two half-days a year, one in late April and the other in September. If you are interested, please contact Laurel Imlay at 301-277-7111 or 410-813-2225. Or email Chris Bedford at cbedford@erols.com.
