Anne
Arundel Group Outings
All
outings begin at the
trailhead. In the interests of conservation and convenience, the Sierra
Club does encourage carpooling to outings from the meeting
place. However, the carpool is not part of the actual outing and the
Sierra
Club assumes no liability for it. Participants assume the risks
associated
with this travel. A modest driver reimbursement, if any, can be
arranged
between the driver and passengers.
Sierra
Club Outings are open to
all members and non-members. Reservations are not necessary on all
outings unless so stated. In order to participate on one of the Sierra
Club's outings, you will need to sign a liability waiver. If you would
like to read a copy of the waiver prior to the outing, please call
415-977-5630 or see
www.sierraclub.org/outings/chapter/forms/
Unless
specifically noted in
the trip listing, pets are not permitted on Sierra Club outings.
May and June 2012
There are no group outings
scheduled for

Outings
Leaders
are
Needed!
The Sierra Club is currently seeking members who enjoy the outdoors and
would like to become Sierra Club Outings Leaders.
There are two basic requirements. First, leaders must complete the
Outdoor Leaders Training 101 (which is available online); and second,
have completed a basic first aid course withing the past four years.
The Anne Arundel Group, with prior approval, will reimburse leaders for
their first aid training.
For those who wish to become a Sierra Club Outings Leader, the best way
to obtain Outings Leader training is during a face-to-face training
session. However, for those who cannot attend face-to-face training,
the Sierra Club volunteers and staff have created an Outings Leader 101
Telecourse, being offered in June.
Information is available on the Sierra Club
“Clubhouse” website.
Pre-registration is required prior to June 1. National will send you a
“homework” package. The telecourse will consist of
two 90-minute
conference calls on Thursday, June 16, and June 23, each at 8:00 pm.
If you aren’t able to register for the telecourse,
the next
face-to-face Outing Leader 101 training is tentatively planned for our
Chapter Jamboree in October. This year the semi-annual Jamboree will be
held at Camp Round Meadow in Catoctin National Park on the weekend of
September 30, October 1 and 2, (Friday evening thru Sunday.) More
information will become available as Jamboree planning progresses.
If interested, please contact the Outings Committee Chair - Mr. Jan C.
Hoffmaster at (410) 384-7344 or
