Anne Arundel Group Events and Meetings

Unless stated otherwise, Sierra Club events are open to members and non-members alike. Reservations are not necessary unless so stated.

April 2008

Saturday, April 5, 2008 - Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Non-native Invasive Plant Removal (1:00-4:00 pm)

Jug Bay is one of Anne Arundel County’s special places and we want to keep it that way! Learn about the non-native invasive plants (NIP’s) at Jug Bay and the threat they pose to the sanctuary’s special habitats and rare plants. Help remove some of these NIP’s.

If you enjoy the day, join a Sierra Club group to “adopt-a-plot” where we will monitor, map and manage the invasives throughout the year. If you are truly ambitious, help with litter removal in the marshes and along the streams and roadsides in the morning.

For more information or to sign up, contact Judy Mauriello at jzmaur@gmail.com

Saturday, May 31, 2008 -   11:00 am - 3:00 pm - Sierra Club Spring Picnic
Holly Pavilion, Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis, MD.

Help us start a spring tradition, a club picnic at Quiet Waters Park.  Bring the family to participate in a variety of games and activities.  Among other things we will learn about the ecology of the park and conduct a service project, probably removing invasive species.

The club will provide burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and drinks.  Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share: salad, side dish, dessert, etc.
