Auction and Donation Information

We are still accepting Donations!!!

If you’ve attended our fun Jamboree in prior years, you know that we always have both silent and live auctions to help cover the costs of the Jamboree and raise some extra funds for the Chapter.  Items are typically donated and usually have some relevance to the environment.  The items can be new or used (in good condition).  In the past we’ve sold really nice Sierra Club books and Sierra Club items like hats, messenger bags, tote bags, etc.   In 2007 I donated a sleeping bag that I hadn’t used in many years, someone else donated fannie packs and life vests.  Laurel purchased a good used Kayak during the live auction and I purchased a weekend at Ron Henry’s place on the Eastern Shore.

It only takes a second to set something aside. Also, if you could lead a canoe trip or a special hike, or have a weekend place you could contribute that would be great.

I hope this encourages you to start putting things away for this year’s auction.  It’s a way of clearing out your homes of things you don’t use anymore and helping out the Club.  And if you live near REI or Hudson Trail Outfitters or any other outdoor stores, how about going in and asking them for a donation?   If you know of any artists who do nice environmental art how about asking them if they’ll donate a painting?  And if you can think of other ways to get items for the live auction please follow up and let me know what you get so we can start keeping track of the items.

Feedback we’ve gotten about the auctions from attendees has been very positive.  They like the idea of having an opportunity to get Christmas gifts for people on their lists and to get fun outings for themselves.

If you are willing to approach some merchants for donations please let us know –  you can use the letter and form below.

Thanks so much all you wonderful activists!!!

Please use these forms to make a donation of your own, or print them off and bring them to your local retailer and ask them to make a donation.
