What does the Political Committee do?

What Does the Political Committee Do?

The Political Committee decides which candidates to endorse in local, state, and national elections, and supports and works on political campaigns in an effort to influence the outcome. The Committee distributes information and signage, and participates in a number of outreach activities such as doorknocking, calling and contacting members to write letters-to-the-editor, to attend events, to register to vote, etc.

This past year, the Committee was successful in propelling Frank Kratovil into office, who in turn helped pass the recent American Clean Energy and Security Act in the House. The narrow passage of the bill illustrates the importance of making sure environmentally-friendly candidates are elected into office. Read more about this success in our Grassroots Efforts page!

We hope to achieve similar successes in the upcoming election, but that cannot be done without dedicated committee members!
