What Does the Legislative Committee Do?
The Legislative Committee focuses on determining and organizing the legislative priorities of the Sierra Club, Maryland Chapter. As the legislative session approaches each year, the committee holds regular meetings to establish effective strategies for supporting or opposing bills.
Once the session begins each member is given a designated number of bills which they are responsible for reading, summarizing, and determining whether we support or oppose the bill. Throughout the session, committee members write and deliver testimony on bills, attend hearings, lobby in Annapolis, and communicate their progress with the committee.
