Saturday, April 6: Sugar Loaf Mountain. Eight mile hike featuring rocky outcrops with sweeping views. Bring lunch and water. Meet at the Bagel Bin in the Enchanted Forest Shopping Center for a 9:00 departure. Call James Perschy, 410-964-1902, jmatp@starpower.net.

Sunday, April 7: Blackwater N.W.R. Bike Ride. Moderate 25 mile bicycle ride around and through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Flat course but can experience strong headwinds. Bring lunch a nd water. No go if rain. Meet at Southwest Park & Ride (Rolling Road at Wilkens Ave) at 8:00 am. Please call before 9:30 pm. Jim: 410-719-1429

Sunday, April 7: Muddy Run PA. Moderate six (6) to eight (8) miles in a scenic river valley. Meet at K-Mart on Route 1 just north of Beltway Exit 32 at 11:00 a.m. Jack: 410-256-3963

Saturday, April 13: Loch Raven Hike. Five (5) to six (6) moderate miles. Meet at the Carver Center in Towson, 938 York Road, at 10:00 a.m. Clint: 410-235-5835

Sunday, April 14: Kelly Run and Pinnacle Hike. Moderate 7 to 8 miles with a good view of the Susquehanna River. Meet at the K-Mart on BelAir Road at 10:00 a.m.Jack: 410-256-3963

Sunday, April 14: Carderock. Moderate 5 or 8 mile hike on the towpath, and over rocky terrain by the Potomac River on the lower sections of the Billy Goat Trail. We will take a slow pace in some areas with a profusion of wildflowers. Bring lunch and water. Depart at 10:00 from the west lot of the park & ride at Rt. 32 and Broken Land Parkway. Sat. - Sun., April 20-21: Appalachian Trail Backpack. Appalachian trail backpacking along a section in Maryland or Pennsylvania. Meet early Saturday morning at a specific trailhead, backpack 6-8 miles to a shelter, spend the night at the shelter then on Sunday we'll hike another 6-8 miles to our stopping point. Saturday, April 20: Jeremys Run, in Virginia's Shenandoah National Park. A strenuous 14.3 mile hike with a 2600 foot elevation change, follows a beautiful stream and the Appalachian Trail. Bring lunch and water. Experienced hikers only; sign up in advance. Depart at 7:30 from the west lot of the park & ride at Rt. 32 and Broken Land Parkway. April 20-22: Car camp at Seneca Shadows, Monongahela Forest, WV. Includes an 11 mile hike at Seneca Rocks with beautiful Seneca Creek, and a short road trip to Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia. Contact Mike Juskelis, 410-439-4964, mjuskelis@cablespeed.com.

Saturday, April 20: Jerusalem Mill East. About seven (7) miles of moderate trail along the Little Gunpowder Falls. Some hills and stream crossings. Boots recommended. Optional tour of Mill afterwards. Meet at Belair Road K Mart at 9:30 a.m. Joyce: 410-254-7240

Sunday, April 21: NCR Bike Trip. Bike a twenty (20) mile section of the historical and scenic North Central Railroad Trail. Bring lunch and a helmet. Meet at the Mt. Carmel Road Park & Ride at 9:30 a.m. Rain date Sunday, May 5th. Ted: 410-239-4590

Saturday, April 27: Gettysburg Battlefield Bicycle Ride. A 15 to 20 mile loop. Hills and tourist traffic to contend with. Experience the Battlefield in its entirety ­ close up and personal. Saturday, April 27: Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware. Easy slow-paced walk on the beach, observing horseshoe crabs and birds. Optional camping, sign up early to reserve camp site. Saturday, April 27: Spring Flower Hike, Gunpowder Falls. Moderate 8 mile circuit hike past old mill ruins, along the banks of the river and on the Panther Branch Trail. Lunch at Raven Rocks. Sunday, April 28: Mason Neck, VA. Hike 5 easy miles in the state park and wildlife refuge. Look for bald eagles and early bird migrants. Bring binoculars, lunch, and water.
