ALERT Environmental activists- Prince George's

Activist Imani Kazana and others have fought a long battle against placing LNG facilities near homes in our county.
Even as the good people  and politicians have gradually gotten the upper hand in this matter, the utility company keeps fighting.
So the community and allies are pushing through loophole-plugging bills (see attached).
You are asked to send a short message today to express support for these bills.  See below.

Background and what you can do:

Delegate Ivey's LNG bill was successfully voted out of the Prince George's County Delegation last Friday, and is now in the hands of the "Public Utilities SubCommittee" of the Economic Matters Committee  (see list attached).  It has a new number (HB 1043).

Attached are the two amendments to Delegate Ivey's LNG legislation, which we absolutely DO want and need.    All letters to legislators should indicate support for these changes which:  1) puts HUD's people-friendly evaluation procedures to determine a safe buffer zone into State law, and 2) requires that these facilities be consistent with local zoning.

By the way, State Senator David Harrington has also cross-filed the bill in the Senate (SB 993).    We will keep you posted when hearings are scheduled.

Please get involved, and get your friends and neighbors involved at this time.  Our strong actions now will help protect our neighborhoods from dangerous, hazardous activities by greedy, thoughtless corporations in the future.   We must act now.

thanks in advance for your efforts to help get this amended bill passed.
