These fields of Hay-Scented Fern (Dennstaedtia punctilobula) will smell great in the fall!

Ruins along the Bowman Hollow Trail. The vegetation in this area contained several domesticated plants suggesting someone once lived here.
Squawroot (Conopholis americana) is a parasitic plant that grows on the roots of deciduous trees.
Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum) carpeted large areas along the trail.
We were surprised to find this lone specimen of Cinnamon Fern (Osmunda cinnamomea).
Spring Cress (Cardemine bulbosa) is an established, naturalized alien in the mustard family. Its leaves are edible, either fresh in salad or cooked as greens.
